User Guidelines
The Sysops in our Discussion areas are knowledgable and helpful. Their role is to maintain a free and open forum while keeping some semblance of order. The goal is to make our Discussion areas both useful and friendly places.
Nevertheless, the Discussion areas rely primarily on the good sense and will of our users. In the interest of community, we ask that you abide by a few guidelines:
- Keep discussions relevant to the area in which they are threaded. If you want to discuss another topic, please go to another area or start a new thread within the appropriate subject area.
- Debates are welcome; personal attacks are not. No flames!
- No commercial postings will be accepted. Not even "Help Wanted" or "Position Wanted" messages. Nope. Forget about it.
- Do not post any information which is encrypted, fraudulent, threatening, abusive, obscene, profane or in violation of another's rights, including, but not limited to, copyright, trademark, trade secrets and privacy. That makes us angry.
- Also, do not post or transmit any information or software that contains a virus, worm, trojan horse or other harmful or disruptive component. That makes us very angry.
- Use of copyrighted materials or images is prohibited unless you have the permission of the copyright holder.
EarthWeb reserves the right to bar users and remove messages for any reason, and without prior notice. You hereby waive all proprietary rights of any kind in and to the contents of your messages and specifically: (i) grant EarthWeb an unlimited, irrevocable license to reproduce, distribute, adapt, perform, display and sublicense your posting, and you acknowledge that you have the authority to grant such rights to EarthWeb; and (ii) release EarthWeb from any and all liability and obligations whatsoever, even if EarthWeb is informed in advance of the possibility of ensuing damages. You acknowledge that no confidential, contractually implied or other relationship is created between you and EarthWeb by use of this discussion area.
