EmbeddedJava is a new Java Application Environment designed for environments with limited resources--things like mobile phones, routers and switches, pagers, copiers, and other appliances with embedded operating systems, little memory, and different kinds of displays.

Because EmbeddedJava is based on the Java API, applications designed for it can be used with both PersonalJava and Java. It's designed to be ported to many kinds of operating systems with many kinds of microprocessors. It allows code to be ported and reused, and to be created easily--it's Java, after all.
